The new Realms of Fantasy web site is up and running and now reasy to accept banner ads.
The Realms web master has been working on the site and has it running smoothly. The Realms Forum are growing every day and so we feel it’s time to release the banner space on the site.
For the first 5 advertisers we are offering a 3 months for $225! That’s $225 total for the three months. Yea, there’s a catch. We need it paid in advance. That’s it. After the first 5 prices will increase.
Your banner will rotate throughout the site in the leaderboard, foot or as a skyscraper on the sidebar.
At this time the Realms site is receiving 20,000 unique visitors per month. Remember, the site launched after the first of the year so it’s real growth has come in the last 30-45 days.
If you’d like specs and other advertising opportunities on the Realms web site or in the magazine feel free to let us know, jeff at whitedogmediagroup dot com
The June issue of Realms of Fantasy will be on sale April 4th. Subscribers should start seeing this issue in their mail 5-7 days prior to that. That means that if you have a book, game or product release date in Late March or in April this will be the issue to show off your stuff. If you have existing works you are welcome as well. Remember, the key to advertising is What You Say x How Many Times You Say It. Remind customers you exist as often as you can to keep your sales increasing.
The materials deadline for the June issue is March 3rd but I know there are a few days padded, mainly because of my last minute rush. We can design your ad for you if you would like, it’s no charge.
For information on specials and June content feel free to shoot us a note, jeff at whitedogmediagroup.com.
A quick update on the Feb issue of Realms:
- The Feb issue will be on sale Dec 4th instead of Dec 15th. The earlier date allowances Tir Na Nog, the publisher of RoF, to take advantage of in store promotions not available later in the month.
- The Feb issue will in deed take advantage of pocket promotions in Barns & Noble and Books-a-Million. In addition to the newsstand you’ll find Realms in end isle displays.
- The Feb issue of Realms will introduce an electronic version of the mag. The initial e-version will be available as a FREE download on the forthcoming Realms site. (Yea, it’s really coming). All ads in the printed mag will be in the e-version.
- You will notice on the calendar (see earlier post or shot me an email and I’ll send you a copy) that the closing and on sale dates are more standardized than in the past.
- Newsstand sales continue to increase.

The economy stinks. Well, for some.
What we often forget while peering at our own declining money pile is that recessions are the best time to gain market share. That puzzled look on your face is a common reaction. So is the “Oh yea.” I generally get when people hear the rest.
During down economic times more businesses pull their marketing back. Some cease completely. That means that there are fewer of your competitors vying for customers. The share of voice is cheaper. You will have to pay less to reach the same or more potential customers.
During the down time your sales may not grow but they will most likely decline slower than your non marketing competitors or even hold steady. The upside is when the economy turns up. You have been in front of the public and have a head start on the other guys. You have been talking to your customers and your competitors customers, many of whom have switched to you. If your service and product are better or comparable they will stay with you.
Businesses that continue to market themselves aggressively during recessions are stronger once the recession is over. They have a greater share of market.
Why write this now? Well, ad sales are sharply down for all properties I represent. They are down across all media. Also a note from a client turned friend gave me hope on a morning I was feeling sorry for myself.
“Despite everything that’s going on in the economy, I think that those of us that are continuing to move forward are going to find that success comes to those who refuse to fail and will eventually make their mark and accomplish goals. Taking actions get reactions. I think that if the economy stabilizes within the next few months we should be okay and things will improve.” Thanks again, Jeff. So crank up the engines, full steam ahead. Give us your best shot because we’re moving forward and not stopping.
Thanks for your time,
Jeff Kight
