The June issue of Realms of Fantasy will be on sale April 4th. Subscribers should start seeing this issue in their mail 5-7 days prior to that. That means that if you have a book, game or product release date in Late March or in April this will be the issue to show off your stuff. If you have existing works you are welcome as well. Remember, the key to advertising is What You Say x How Many Times You Say It. Remind customers you exist as often as you can to keep your sales increasing.
The materials deadline for the June issue is March 3rd but I know there are a few days padded, mainly because of my last minute rush. We can design your ad for you if you would like, it’s no charge.
For information on specials and June content feel free to shoot us a note, jeff at whitedogmediagroup.com.
A quick update on the Feb issue of Realms:
- The Feb issue will be on sale Dec 4th instead of Dec 15th. The earlier date allowances Tir Na Nog, the publisher of RoF, to take advantage of in store promotions not available later in the month.
- The Feb issue will in deed take advantage of pocket promotions in Barns & Noble and Books-a-Million. In addition to the newsstand you’ll find Realms in end isle displays.
- The Feb issue of Realms will introduce an electronic version of the mag. The initial e-version will be available as a FREE download on the forthcoming Realms site. (Yea, it’s really coming). All ads in the printed mag will be in the e-version.
- You will notice on the calendar (see earlier post or shot me an email and I’ll send you a copy) that the closing and on sale dates are more standardized than in the past.
- Newsstand sales continue to increase.

Warren has reveled the October Realms of Fantasy Cover.

The Feb ‘10 issue of Realms of Fantasy will introduce an electronic version to complement the print version. This will be the first entry into the electronic realm for the 16 year old publication.
The initial electronic version will be available for free as a download on the soon to be launched Relams of Fantasy web site. Subsequent electronic versions will be available for single copy sale and subscription.
For readers this will mean a new way to receive the magazine. For advertisers it will be additional exposure and an alternative vehicle to boost exposure.
Did you notice the changes in Realms? Warren Lapine, the new owner of the magazine, made a few subtle changes that you may have felt but not been able to put your finger on.
First was the paper weight of both the cover and interior pages. It’s heavier. That translates into a more substantial tactile experience, less page destruction during mailing and greater cost.
Yea, in a time of tighter budgets Warren has chosen to spend more on his paper to give Realms readers a nicer product.
Another isthe font. It’s larger and while in the same font family it’s a bit different and eaysier to read.
You may notice additional changes over the next few issues, perhaps you won’t, but be assured there will be some all designed to give the reader a more enjoyable experiance.
Thanks for your time,
Jeff
Warren Lapine, new owner and Publisher of Realms of Fantasy magazine is working to associate the magazine more with the fantasy community. A great move and one that is long overdue.
For the last fifteen years Realms of Fantasy hasn’t really been part of the science fiction/fantasy community. Now that I’m the publisher of the magazine that is changing. However, I’d like to do more than just bring it into the community. I’d like to use it to help promote community.” says Lapine in his new LiveJournal post.
As a long time seller of Realms I’m glad to have someone interested in promoting the pub within the fantasy community. This will undoubtedly help circ and sales.
The relaunch of Realms of Fantasy is officially here. The august issue hit the stands yesterday and looks great. Cheers and encouragements have been coming in from fantasy fans and readers.
