The announcement that Tir Na Nog was ceasing publication of Realms of Fantasy came as a surprise to many including us. We fully understood and shifted our focus to new endeavors. When we found out that Realms had a buyer and it was the desire of the new owners to retain the existing staff we were torn. I personally have worked with Realms for seven years and have greatly enjoyed the fantasy community. It is a warm and open group. That is what made the decision to leave Realms difficult.
In the period between the close of Realms and it’s subsequent purchase White Dog Media had shifted focus and began projects that had been on hold for some time. To jump back into Realms we feel would cause us to be spread too thin. We would not be able to give any of our properties the attention that they deserve. We have therefore decided to not follow Realms to it’s new publisher/owner Damnation Books.
We certainly wish everyone well and look forward to seeing Realms on the newsstand.
Many Realms of Fantasy clients have contacted me asking about the future of the magazine. I apologize for my vagueness but all of the information I had I supplied. Now I can happily say that more info can be shared.
Tir Na Nog has sold Realms of Fantasy.
Tir Na Nog will publish the December issue of Realms now scheduled to be on sale November 26th. The new owners will take over publication with the Feb 2011 issue. An on sale date for Feb is forthcoming.
We are currently contacting clients with ads scheduled in the December and February issues to coordinate their ads. The Dec issue was previously scheduled to go on sale Oct 4th, Feb Dec 4th.
The new Realms of Fantasy web site is up and running and now reasy to accept banner ads.
The Realms web master has been working on the site and has it running smoothly. The Realms Forum are growing every day and so we feel it’s time to release the banner space on the site.
For the first 5 advertisers we are offering a 3 months for $225! That’s $225 total for the three months. Yea, there’s a catch. We need it paid in advance. That’s it. After the first 5 prices will increase.
Your banner will rotate throughout the site in the leaderboard, foot or as a skyscraper on the sidebar.
At this time the Realms site is receiving 20,000 unique visitors per month. Remember, the site launched after the first of the year so it’s real growth has come in the last 30-45 days.

Did you know that Realms of Fantasy is available on Kindle?
The Feb issue of Realms is now available for Kindle and the April issue will soon be.
Did you know that the new Realms of Fantasy web site was up and running? It’s been up for a bout a month and is now updated multiple times each day by Realms editors, writers, reviewers even the publisher. Check it out.
White you’re on the Realms web site head over to the new Realms Forum and chat. You’ll find a fantasy community eager to talk fantasy as well as help if you are a writer, artist or fan.
The June issue of Realms of Fantasy will be on sale April 4th. Subscribers should start seeing this issue in their mail 5-7 days prior to that. That means that if you have a book, game or product release date in Late March or in April this will be the issue to show off your stuff. If you have existing works you are welcome as well. Remember, the key to advertising is What You Say x How Many Times You Say It. Remind customers you exist as often as you can to keep your sales increasing.
The materials deadline for the June issue is March 3rd but I know there are a few days padded, mainly because of my last minute rush. We can design your ad for you if you would like, it’s no charge.

A quick update on the Feb issue of Realms:
- The Feb issue will be on sale Dec 4th instead of Dec 15th. The earlier date allowances Tir Na Nog, the publisher of RoF, to take advantage of in store promotions not available later in the month.
- The Feb issue will in deed take advantage of pocket promotions in Barns & Noble and Books-a-Million. In addition to the newsstand you’ll find Realms in end isle displays.
- The Feb issue of Realms will introduce an electronic version of the mag. The initial e-version will be available as a FREE download on the forthcoming Realms site. (Yea, it’s really coming). All ads in the printed mag will be in the e-version.
- You will notice on the calendar (see earlier post or shot me an email and I’ll send you a copy) that the closing and on sale dates are more standardized than in the past.
- Newsstand sales continue to increase.
